There's Hope!

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

This verse just hit me as I was reading the other night. Even though I've read it a hundred times before, I just couldn't get it off my mind. And I would have told you that I knew all that, but looking back, I'm not sure I really believed it. There was no evidence in my life that I believed it. Oh, but how it sunk it that night. I had to stop reading right then because I was overwhelmed with such a sense of guilt for not entrusting my future to Christ. I recall on many occasions telling God what would be best for my life at the time,as though my thoughts were above His. How foolish of me to tell my creator where and in what capacity I would bring Him the most glory. And how humbling to know that His ways and thoughts are higher than my own and how refreshing to know His plan for my life is far more fulfilling than mine could ever be.

His ways are not always the easiest or the most fun, but only they can bring true joy. We don't know why we are called to suffer in some ways or why things happen like they do. We don't need to know why. All we need to know is that a sovereign God holds us in the palm of his hand, with ways and thoughts for our life far greater than our own. Here's some lyrics from my latest favorite song...it's by Ginny Owens.

No, I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise
You're not through with me yet
So if all of these trials
Bring me closer to you
Then I will walk through the fire
If you want me to
And it may not be the way
I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world
That's not my home
But you never said
It would be easy
You only saidI'd never go alone

another first in my life

We've been wanting to create this blog for a while now...just as something to look back to remember the (un)interesting details of our first year at Campbell. I'm incredibly excited although I have nothing of importance to say at this moment...but I'm sure rants about the deeper meaning of life will come soon. Probably not as soon as the dumb stories will be posted, but ya know. =)
